Getting the best results from AI avatar videos on Predis

Your AI avatar videos should look polished and professional — but sometimes the output needs a little fine-tuning. This article covers practical ways to improve lip synchronization, avatar movement, voiceover clarity, and overall video quality when creating UGC or talking-head content on Predis.

Why avatar videos sometimes look or sound "off"

AI-generated avatar videos rely on text-to-speech engines and facial animation models working together in real time. When the output feels unnatural, it's usually because of one of these factors:

  • The script contains formatting that confuses the speech engine — numbers, symbols, abbreviations, or unusual punctuation can cause the voice to stumble or pause in the wrong places.
  • The script doesn't read like spoken language — long, complex sentences produce flat, monotone delivery with poor mouth movement.
  • The chosen avatar isn't the best match for your script — different avatars have different strengths depending on pacing, language, and tone.
  • Language-specific limitations — voiceover and lip-sync quality is strongest in English and may vary for other languages.

The fixes below address each of these.

Fix 1: Clean up your script for speech

The most common cause of awkward avatar movement is a script that reads well on paper but sounds wrong when spoken aloud. AI voices interpret your text literally — every symbol, abbreviation, and number is processed exactly as written.

Numbers and symbols

Write numbers and symbols the way you'd say them out loud:

Instead of writing…

Write this instead

2,000 users

two thousand users or 2000 users

50% off

fifty percent off

24/7 support

twenty-four seven support

$29/month

twenty-nine dollars a month

Q3 2025

Q three twenty twenty-five

10x faster

ten times faster

Why this matters: Commas inside numbers (like 2,000) can be read as a pause. Slashes, percentage signs, and currency symbols are often interpreted unpredictably — sometimes read aloud, sometimes skipped, sometimes causing a glitch in the speech rhythm.

Brand names and product names

Your brand name might not be pronounced the way you expect. AI speech models sound out unfamiliar words phonetically, which means:

  • LUXORA might come out as "Luh-ZORA" instead of "Lux-OR-ah"
  • 3DPrintX might be read as "three-dee-print-ex" or garbled entirely
  • Café+ might drop the accent or read the plus sign

How to fix it: Rewrite the name the way it sounds. For example:

Brand name

Write it as…

LUXORA

Lux-or-ah

3DPrintX

3D Print Ex

Café+

Café Plus

NU-XA Cream

New-Zah Cream

Experiment with spacing and hyphens until the pronunciation matches what you hear in your head. Read your script out loud before generating — if it sounds awkward when you say it, the avatar will struggle with it too.

Note on subtitles: If your video includes on-screen captions, they'll display the exact text you typed. If you've rewritten a brand name phonetically for better pronunciation (like "New-Zah" instead of "NU-XA"), the subtitle will show the phonetic version. You can turn subtitles off in the video settings if this is a concern.

Fix 2: Write like you talk, not like you type

Lip sync and avatar movement work best with conversational, spoken-style text. The speech engine maps mouth shapes to syllables — and natural speech cadence produces much better results than formal or dense writing.

Guidelines for better scripts:

  • Keep sentences short. Aim for 8–15 words per sentence. Long compound sentences produce flat, unnatural delivery.
  • Use contractions. "You'll love this" sounds more natural than "You will love this" — and the avatar's mouth movement reflects the difference.
  • Break dense paragraphs into separate thoughts. Each sentence gets its own breath and pacing.
  • Add natural pauses. Use periods and commas where you'd naturally pause if speaking. A period creates a full stop; a comma creates a brief pause.
  • Avoid jargon and technical language unless your audience expects it. Simpler words produce clearer pronunciation.

Example: before and after

Before (reads like a brochure):

Our revolutionary skincare formula, developed with dermatologists and backed by 15+ clinical studies, delivers visible results in as little as 2 weeks with consistent daily application.

After (reads like a person talking):

We built this formula with real dermatologists. Fifteen clinical studies back it up. Use it daily, and you'll see results in about two weeks.

The second version will produce noticeably smoother lip sync, more natural head movement, and better pacing in the final video.

Fix 3: Try a different avatar

Not every avatar performs equally well with every script. This isn't a bug — it's a characteristic of how AI facial animation works. Some avatars handle fast speech better; others are smoother with slower, deliberate pacing. Some work well in English but less so in Spanish or Portuguese.

If the lip sync feels off:

  1. Regenerate the same script with a different avatar from the library.
  2. Try avatars of a similar style — if a young female avatar didn't sync well, try another young female option before switching to a completely different type.
  3. For non-English scripts, test 2–3 avatars to find the best match for your target language.

If you need a specific look: Browse the avatar library and filter by style. We regularly add new avatars — if you don't find one that matches your brand or audience, let our support team know. We prioritize new additions based on user requests.

Fix 4: Improve voiceover quality

If the voice sounds robotic, too fast, too slow, or mismatched to the avatar, try these adjustments:

  • Preview the voice before generating. Listen to the voice sample in the selector — make sure the tone and pacing match what you want before committing credits.
  • Shorten your script. Longer scripts (over 60 seconds of speech) tend to produce flatter, more monotone delivery. Breaking a 90-second video into two 45-second clips often sounds significantly better.
  • Simplify sentence structure. The voice engine handles simple subject-verb-object sentences best. Nested clauses and parenthetical asides create unnatural rhythm.
  • Match language to voice. If your script is in Spanish, make sure you've selected a Spanish voice — using an English voice with Spanish text produces poor results and garbled pronunciation.

Fix 5: Check your aspect ratio and resolution

Avatar movement quality can also be affected by the output format:

  • 9:16 (vertical) — best for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Stories. This is the most-tested format for avatar videos.
  • 16:9 (landscape) — best for YouTube or LinkedIn. Some avatars may show more upper-body movement in this format.

Choose your aspect ratio before generating — it's baked into the render and can't be changed afterward without regenerating.

When to regenerate vs. when to contact support

Regenerate if:

  • The lip sync is slightly off but the overall video is close to what you wanted
  • The voice pronunciation of a specific word is wrong (fix the spelling first, then regenerate)
  • You want to try a different avatar or voice with the same script

Contact support if:

  • The video failed to generate entirely (you should not be charged credits for failed generations)
  • The avatar's face is visually distorted, warped, or shows anatomy glitches (extra fingers, melting features)
  • The lip movement is completely frozen or the audio is missing
  • You've tried 3+ avatars and the lip sync is consistently broken on the same script

Quick checklist before generating

Run through this list before hitting "Generate" to maximize your chances of a great first output:

  • Read your script out loud — does it sound natural when spoken?
  • Are all numbers spelled out as words?
  • Are brand names written phonetically?
  • Are symbols (%, $, @, #, &) replaced with words?
  • Is each sentence under ~15 words?
  • Have you selected the right voice language for your script?
  • Have you previewed the voice?
  • Is your aspect ratio set correctly for the target platform?
  • Have you chosen an avatar that matches your brand's tone?
