Writing a Content Direction That Works
One box decides the angle of every post. Here is how to fill it in well.
Overview
Step 2 of setup asks what your posts should focus on. It is a free-text box with a 15-character minimum and a 1000-character limit, plus suggestion chips to get you started.
Steps
Step 1 · Start from a chip if you are stuck
Under the box, the suggestions are Product highlights, How to use it, Behind the scenes, Customer stories and Seasonal moments. Clicking one drops its text into the box, and you can add as many as you like.
Step 2 · Rewrite it in your own words
Chips get you to a valid answer; your own sentences get you to a good one. Say what your posts should be about and what they should sound like.
Step 3 · Keep it about angle, not subject
What you sell is already covered by your content sources in step 1. Use this box for the angle — what to emphasise, what tone to strike, what to avoid.
Step 4 · Continue
The step confirms you can preview and edit each post before it goes live, so this is direction rather than a final word.
Notes & Tips
- Note: The minimum is 15 characters. A single chip clears it, but a one-word direction produces generic posts.
- Tip: Concrete beats abstract. "Lead with the problem each product solves, keep it warm and plain-spoken, never use hype words" directs the writing far better than "engaging content".
- Tip: If you have a rule that must never be broken — a claim you cannot make, a word you never use — put it here in plain language.
